Your New Years weight loss diet advice

your-new-years-weight-loss-diet-advice

Finally, it’s a brand New Year. In fact it’s already been started. You must have set of new objectives and new goals to fulfill with renewed energy and zeal.

Losing weight is, however, a goal that is rarely accomplished and the most common reason for that is; most people tend to choose diets that do not work for them in a desperate attempt to reach their New Year weight loss goal soon as possible.

Why?

Well, there are quite a few reasons:

  • People become too choosy: Following a weight loss diet which focuses only on certain foods can make you get easily bored and start craving for your favorite, forbidden foods. Before long, you get back to your old eating habits and gain even more weight than before.
  • People choose “fast weight loss diet”: There are diets that promise quick and long-lasting weight loss because they contain a ”miracle” ingredient or because they can cleanse your body from all toxins. Both of those promises are empty.

There is no ”miracle” ingredient and those body cleanses are highly suspect. On the contrary, fast weight loss diets force your body to lower its metabolic rate and burn fewer calories. When you start eating normally again, your metabolism cannot readjust and you need to consume even fewer calories than before to lose weight.

This is known as the ”yo-yo syndrome”. Sometimes, quick diets do cause some weight loss, but then bounce-back takes over and people become heavier than before the diet because they felt deprived.

  • People restrict their food intake: Also, traditional weight loss diet restricts food intake. The body reacts to this apparent famine by slowing down its metabolic rate and burning less energy.

Additionally, dieters avoid social situations involving food. Temporary lapses produce feelings of frustration and failure. Physically and emotionally deprived, they compensate by bingeing, and this diet-binge cycle sets them on the path to obesity.

Considering the above reasons, here’s a simple and easy New Year diet advice to remember.

  • Go for the foods that take long to be cooked. Do you know, the longer it takes for a food to cook, the longer it takes to digest in your system, which is a good thing when trying to lose weight. This means that quick and convenient foods, a staple of current society, burn off much quicker and leave us feeling hungry sooner.

Regular sugar raises the glycemic index quickly, but drops it quickly as well – another reason you will find yourself hungry sooner.

  • Reject the high-fat, high-calorie diet centered on over-processed bland foods. A healthy diet is colorful, crammed with red, yellow and green fruits and vegetables to replace cravings for pale French fries and donuts. Protein is sourced from low-fat meat and dairy products, carbohydrates from wholegrain, and fats and oils are unsaturated choices like canola, olive and soybean.
  • Also, never skip a meal. The longer you wait to eat, the more you will consume later. Also, if you tend to eat bigger meals later in the day, there is less time to burn off calories.

So this New Year, abandon old diet methods and adopt permanent wellness. New Year weight loss diet advice focuses on health gained, not pounds lost. Accordingly, adopt a different approach to dieting and throw out the old diet and start a new one. Start a diet that you will stick to for life.

Diets don’t work because they focus on the body only. The all new diet advice takes the whole being into consideration: body, mind, and soul. It will set you on successful path into 2010 and beyond. But remember, diets aren’t just for the New Year – they’re for life. Aren’t they?

Happy New Year!

Well, it’s finally 2010 and it is a time-honored tradition to make objectives and set goals at this time of year. Whether you are trying to shed 5 pounds or 100 pounds in the New Year, the following purely “dietary” tips will help you set a realistic, achievable New Year weight loss goal for yourself.

  1. Clear out your kitchen
Start the New Year with a fresh start by clearing out your kitchen of all junk food. The term “bad food” does not at all mean that it will make you sick or anything. It will, however, seriously destroy your calorie consumption plan for the New Year weight loss. You should, therefore, eat them in moderation. “Bad” food would include any white bread, candy, cakes, deeply refined or highly processed food, foods that contain additives and colorings, salty and junk food, soda, any food that is high in fat and calories. Don’t forget to read food labels when you are at your local market to avoid “bad” food.
  2. Eat early to keep weight off
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. According to the proven diet advice, therefore, the best approach would be to eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.
  3. Go veggie
No, we don’t ask you to become a strict vegetarian in 2010. However, considering the enormous benefits of consuming raw vegetables and fruits, you must eat at least 5 fruits and veggies a day. Remember, green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits are rich in fiber, vitamins and various phytochemicals, which are all essential in achieving and maintaining a successful weight loss. Keep fresh fruit in your fridge in plain sight and cut up veggies to bite size pieces for easy snacks. Have plain yogurt and hummus to dip fruit and veggies in.
  4. Watch out while eating
Pay attention to what you are doing when you eat. If you watch television or have animated conversations when you eat, you tend to eat more as you don’t register that you’ve already satisfied your hunger. Focus on the activity at hand, eating. It’s true that a lot of us take our dinner right in front of the TV. Seems relaxing enough, but if your aim is successful weight loss then you may want to think about moving away from the TV. New research has found that kids who watched TV while eating lunch ate a whopping 228 extra calories than those who ate without the television on. While the study was done only with kids, this diet advice also holds true for adults.
  5. Choose a safe but effective dietary supplement
Around New Year’s, many companies promise successful weight loss results from crash diets, pills, and fancy exercise machines. The truth is that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to lose weight, and many of those programs promote unhealthy behavior. A purely natural, 100 % safe, organic and fiber-based supplement like Proactol, which is scientifically backed and time-tested, could be all you need to get rid of all that unwanted, undesirable body fat.

New Year, New Me

new-year-new-me

Happy New Year everyone! It’s the start of a new year and a new decade!

The start of a new year is always inspiring to get yourself into new routines and better yourself. And for me, this year is a big year for my weight loss!

2009 was my first year using Proactol and it has done wonders to keep my weight down when I couldn’t exercise. When I was exercising regularly, I lost weight quicker and healthier than I had ever lost weight before. I tried out so many different ways of exercising and changed my portions and what I ate. It was a real experimental year to find out what works for me, and by the end of the year, I think I found it!

I know what you’re thinking…At the start of any new year, intentions of what you are going to do is much different to what you actually do! And I’m prepared for that. My husband and I have decided to make a routine so that after work, 4 times a week, we’ll go to the gym together. We’ve never done this before and we are really excited to be doing this as a couple :-) We also have a close friend who is joining the same gym and he will be coming with us too! It’s a really exciting time for us as we all have different reasons for going…I want to lose weight, my husband wants to build more strength and our friend wants to tone up!

2010 is the year I reach my ideal weight. I’m so determined and so positive about this, I know I’m going to hit my goal this year! Through 2009, I found out it’s best for me to eat little and often, and that’s what I’m going to stick to! With my new gym routine with my husband, I know I’ll be keeping up the exercise and he’ll be a great help in motivating me and keeping me from skipping sessions! Also for Christmas, my husband bought me Wii Fit Plus and it’s absolutely brilliant! It’s got more exercises, more games and loads more features which keep track of calories and fitness!

I’ve got into the habit of buying lower fat and lower sugar foods, keeping an eye on the calories and making sure I eat much more fresh fruit and vegetables. Now that Christmas is out the way, the chocolates and the sweets are slowly disappearing and so temptation will be far less of a challenge!

So, where am I right now?

Well, I’m about to leave the obese category for good! My BMI is 30.04, soon to finally be under 30 for the first time in so many years! As it’s the new year, here is my new goal…

Current Weight: 167lbs (75kg/11.9 stone)
Ideal Weight: 130lbs (58kg/9.2 stone)
Weight to lose: 37lbs (17kg/2,7 stone)
Exercise: At least 15 minutes exercise everyday, 30 minutes at least every other day.
Diet: 5-6 mini meals throughout the day.

So, here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2010 for us all!
