Most of us, especially those who struggle with their weight or have in the past, are at least a little bit envious of those people who appear to be naturally thin. You know those people who seem to be able to eat whatever they want and still fit into their skinny jeans the next day. Well, word is, they may have a few secrets up their sleeves that those who struggle with their weight don’t. Here are a few of those secrets.

Skinny Secret #1: Skinny People Can’t Eat Whatever They Want
One major misconception about naturally skinny people is that they can eat whatever they want. This simply isn’t true. Just because a person has a turbo metabolism doesn’t mean that they can consume tons of fatty and sugary foods, as doing so can lead to all sorts of health problems such as diabetes, hypertension and hypoglycemia. It is important for everyone, regardless of their size, to follow a healthy diet, one that includes lean proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. 

Skinny Secret #2: Naturally Skinny People Get Moving
Even if naturally skinny people are not in the gym for hours on end doesn’t mean that they aren’t active. There are many ways to keep physically active. Doing the laundry, shuttling the kids to and from activities, taking the stairs instead of the elevator and parking further away in the parking lot are all easy ways to incorporate extra activity into ones schedule. Of course, if you are not naturally thin, it may be necessary to take a more deliberate approach to physical activity and exercise. Walking, jogging, aerobics and swimming are all good choices.

Skinny Secret #3: Naturally Skinny People Are Optimistic
Naturally skinny people are often times optimistic. Because depression can lead to weight gain, either due to eating for comfort or the release of fat-inducing stress hormones. Learning to regulate ones mood and de-stress is extremely important. People who don’t have problems with their weight are less apt to turn to food when they are stressed, tired or sad.

Skinny Secret #4: Naturally Skinny People Often Times Wish They Had Curves
People who aren’t naturally thin often times believe that they have received the short of the stick. The truth is many thin people have always desired to have curves (women) or that they were more muscular (men). It’s completely natural to wish for something that one doesn’t have. Often times it is those who don’t have something that see the value and beauty in it. It is important that each person learns to appreciate who they are and then do their best to work with what they have.
